I am very active with the fiber arts, so improving the quality and quantity of the fleece on the animals has become a priority. Our animals receive daily hands on care and are always waiting at the gate with bright eyes and a smile on their faces when they see us coming!

Almosta Ranch was born out of a love of animals and a desire to learn the fiber arts while providing a source of income. We are located in Berks County, Pa., in beautiful farm country just north of the heart of the Pennsylvania Amish Country, close to Reading, Pa., and just 10 minutes from Cabela's in Hamburg, Pa., right on Interstate 78, the world's foremost outfitters.


The business started when I was at a crossroads in my nursing career. I had left the full time chaos and started working part time. I decided to devote time to what I really love -- animals. Having moved to the country with over 6 empty acres--most of it pasture--provided the perfect opportunity to use it wisely. I have been raising and showing rabbits for some time. I have switched my focus and am now raising wooly breeds for their fantastic fine fiber. Satin Angoras and French Angoras are the heart of my rabbit breeding program. We have won some National Awards for their wool production. It blends beautifully with alpaca.

I enjoy the teaching and educational aspect of raising the animals. I am available to do presentations and/or exhibitions to individuals or groups to educate regarding the animals, the fiber, spinning, etc.
We are always glad to have visitors.

Almosta Ranch Alpacas is a small family run farm providing diversity in color and country of origin in our herd. Bloodlines represented are: Caligula,Camelot, Acero Marka's Mop Head, Navigator, Sayvon of Bolivia, Leon, Pachacuti, Felix, and Hemmingway. We strive to do responsible breeding to obtain sound conformation, excellent quality fleece, and gentle dispositions.
